Man arrested after assaulting Smith & Wollensky employee
7-Jan-12 A 50-year-old man from the south side of Chicago was charged with battery after an incident at Marina Citys Smith & Wollensky on the day before Christmas.
At about 12:15 p.m. on December 24, the man entered Smith & Wollensky and demanded that an employee of the restaurant buy him a beer. Realizing the man had already been drinking, the employee asked him to leave. The unidentified black male started to leave but turned around and struck the employee in the face with the back of his right hand.
That is when the employee escorted the man out of the restaurant and called 911. According to the police report, the offender remained on scene and was arrested when police officers arrived five minutes later.
He was taken to 18th district police headquarters for processing and is due in court on February 12 at 9 a.m.
